THE RED DOT, 2015

A short animation about a mother and a daughter and the relationship the mother shares with smoking.

Set in present day India where women who choose to smoke openly are still stared at and images of smoking are increasingly censored. In the visualization of the film the cigarette is represented as 'invisible'. It is neither spoken or shown, only alluded to. The drawings are on white, thus we see the ash, the smoke, even the red dot in the dark but not the object itself.

First year film at the RCA, 2015
